NYFW | the final recap
Whisked away to a mid-morning presentation at The Row, to what seemed more like high tea at The Dorchester, but at the Carlyle instead. The Row always knows how to master that indescribable MK + A "look" of boxy-fitted yet seemingly relaxed while still staying on trend. The presentation was a succession of silk pieces from the thematic white seen throughout NYFW to the deep rich blues and reds. A collection of refinement and grace that included pleated dresses and floor-sweeping skirt dresses, to two-piece suits and a variation of loose fitted blouses all tailor made for the graceful female of the modern day.
Theysken's Theory was one of this season's most highly anticipated shows for me, simply because I love the character Oliver Theysken brings out in clothing, and it was my first time watching the show live. Oliver continued to do what Oliver does best, that is taking basics and making them intriguing in every way possible yet accessible to the everyday. One of my favorite looks all week was definitely the black textured ensemble with a deep V which tiptoed along the line of seductive and sophisticated. The collection altogether was simply breathtaking and artfully crafted with spot on details.
Then a few hours later sitting at my apartment, attempting to finish work, I caught the live view of the Marc Jacobs show. Marc Jacobs continues to reign New York Fashion Week's show to watch. A trendsetter, a revolutionary artist of sorts, season after season putting on a performance that reminds me much of what European runways are all about - performing, an art, etc.etc.. Though I didn't attend the show, I was immediately drawn in as the collection mod Marc marched down a white tile stage. Silhouettes mirroring one another, and head-to-toe look of perfection - everything from the deep side parted hair and smoldering eyes, to the pointed flat Mary Janes, complimenting the mesmerizing duo tones of stripes in all forms. Finishing off with a stampede of models marching down the stage, literally sending chills down my spine. UNREAL.
